Who We Are

Heart n Sole Dance Academy is a dance studio for all ages and ability levels. We like to say that when you join our studio, you become part of our family. Our studio will feel like a second home for you and your dancer. We provide a comprehensive dance education to meet the needs of all students, whether their goal is recreational, competitive, or professional dancing.

Our highly-trained instructors not only include proper technique and terminology in each class, they ensure your child is having fun while learning. In addition to our regular class schedule, private lessons are available for those students who want more personalized training. We really do offer something for everyone!

Meet the Artistic Director for Heart n Sole Dance Academy starting in June 2025, Coach Anna! She has been with HnS since 2021 and is thrilled to take on this new roll. Anna has been studying ballet since the age of 9, and has performed in many full-length ballets, her favorite being Sleeping Beauty. Tap, jazz, and modern were added to her repertoire throughout her time at Linn McDonald's School of Dance in Scranton, PA. While at Elizabethtown College, Anna took many dance classes including ballet, jazz, creative movement, and acting. She continued performing and choreographing for the E-Motion Dance Club. In addition to her dance experience, she has a Master's Degree in Teaching- Elementary Education from the University of South Florida and taught 4th grade for many years in Florida before moving back to PA. As a lifelong learner, Anna has continued her dance education through certifications, master classes, dance teacher conferences, and more. Coach Anna is looking forward to inspiring her dancers to reach new heights this season!
Rochelle Adams

Miss Rochelle is thrilled to begin her second season teaching at Heart n Sole. She began dancing at the age of 3 at the former Lynda Kay’s School of Dance in Dover, studying tap, jazz, lyrical, and ballet. She taught classes there for 4 years as well as choreographed numbers for their dance company, which she was a member of from 1991-1996. In addition to her dance experience, she has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from York College of PA. Rochelle has been taking adult tap and ballet classes at Heart n Sole since 2022, before taking on the role of teaching the adult classes in 2024. Outside of dance, she is the Executive Assistant at HR HealthCare in York. 
Meghan Gilgore

Miss Meghan has been a Heart n Sole mom for four years and is excited to teach our littlest dancers this year! She loves to see the little ones fall in love with dance. She was a dancer from ages 5 to 17 at the Joyce Freeman Studio of Dance, specializing in tap. Four years ago her older daughter started dance and Meghan got to come back to tap as an adult after a 15 year break. Meghan is a mom to two girls 7 and 1.5, and is a singer in her small amount of free time. She has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish Education and a Masters in Hispanic Linguistics, and has taught Spanish at every level K-college. Currently she is an 8-12th grade Spanish teacher at Elizabethtown Area School District.
Kayla Hedemark

Miss Kayla is so excited to continue her second season at Heart n Sole! She started dancing at the age of four, and found her true passion for dance at The Katie Benson School of Dance. It was there that she studied Ballet/Pointe, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap, Acro, and Hip-Hop. After many years of studying dance as a student, Kayla gradually became a dance teacher's assistant, and eventually became an instructor in 2020. In addition to her dance background, Kayla has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University and currently works as a 1st/2nd Multiage teacher in Manheim. She is passionate about the art of dancing and can't wait to continue sharing this love with her dance family!
Taylor Horan
Dance Instructor

Miss Taylor started dancing when she was eight years old after doing gymnastics for three years. She trained at a ballet-based studio before beginning to compete in contemporary, jazz, hip hop, tap, musical theater, and ballet. Taylor competed with the an Elite team in Spotsylvania, VA and traveled around the coast. During her senior year, she assisted with preschool and beginner ballet, tap, and acrobatic classes. In addition to her dance experience, Taylor has a B.S. in psychology from York College of PA and is working on an M.S. in Child Life, Administration, and Family Collaboration. She is so excited to be part of the Heart n Sole Dance Academy family!
Zsuzsanna Smith

Miss Zsanna is so excited for her second season with Heart n Sole Dance Academy! By day she works as an Economic Development Analyst for the Commonwealth, but by night (and weekend) she can be found in the dance studio, rehearsal space, or stage; teaching, performing, and choreographing for nearly every dance style and age group. Zsanna’s professional work is primarily seen at Open Stage Theater of Harrisburg where she’s choreographed/co-directed eight musicals/productions since 2023. As a dancer, her favorite past performance opportunities include producing and performing two dance concerts in the Harrisburg Fringe Festival, dancing original Martha Graham choreography at the Joyce Theater in New York City, and making cameo appearances in various theater spaces within the Greater Pittsburgh Area. Within the arts advocacy and administration world, Zsanna serves on the board for Confluence Ballet, a professional ballet company in downtown Pittsburgh. Zsanna graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2024 with a BFA in Dance Performance/Choreography and a BSBA in Economics. She loves sharing her passion for the performing arts with her students and hopes to inspire confidence in everyone she dances with.
Ella Miosi
Teaching Intern
Miss Ella is so happy to start her teaching journey this year with Heart n Sole! She's been dancing since she was 3 and loves all styles! She was an assistant teacher at the Katie Benson School of Dance for 3 years and has been working with kids for almost 10 years. She spends most of her time learning Interactive and Graphic Design at Millersville University, she also loves crafts and all things creative! She took a few years off of dance to focus on school but caught the dance bug again after watching the Heart n Sole recitals the past two years. Ella is thrilled to be a part of the Heart n Sole dance community!

Mitzi Ross founded Heart n Sole Dance Academy in 2014. Her motto is 'Dance for Joy' in honor of her mom, Joy.
